About Mrs. Precious-Pearl Johnstone, CRC, LCMHC, CCATP, CCTHP

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, meaning I am licensed to provide individual and family therapy services in the state of North Carolina by the Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors. I am also a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP), a Certified Clinical Telemental Health Provider(CCTHP), and a National Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. I am also trained in Triple P -Parenting and currently working to achieve completion in the Gottman Method of Couples Counseling. Along with numerous years of experience working with families I am also trained in Restorative Justice Practices through Wake County Schools and I incorporate Restorative Practices within my counseling methods as a way to assist families and employees within corporate settings. I enjoy helping others and my internal drive to work with people has led me into the field of counseling. I have over 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in various settings (private therapy practice, schools, in-home settings, and military base). My clinical areas of interest are: anxiety disorders, ADHD, depression, parent-child relationships, conflict resolution, couples counseling, behavioral disorders, behavioral addictions, and vocational adjustments and life coaching.

I have spent several years working within the mental health and school settings and bring a great level of expertise in supporting families, children, and adolescents. Coupled with prior experience working with individual service members, and state vocational agencies I have honed my skill set to address both individual and family needs. I have a great sense of understanding of the parent-child relationship which often guides my work with young children and helps me work well with increasing positive familial dynamics. In working with teens and adults, my clinical framework pulls from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Adlerian theory/concepts.

I have several years of experience working within the school system as an elementary school counselor, and work within the state as a vocational counselor. My goal is to support people in finding a balanced and well-centered lifestyle.

I received my undergraduate degree from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Political Science with a minor in Sociology. I received my Master’s Degree from North Carolina A&T State University in Community Counseling with a Certificate in Behavioral Addictions and was a Rehabilitation Services Administration Scholar. I am also a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and hold a Professional Educators License in School Counseling.

I am married with three very active teenagers and a small dog that also keeps me youthful and busy. I enjoy reading and staying current with the latest youth trends and music.
